General and Neurodevelopmental Paediatrician
With over two decades of worldwide scientific research and development, and a decade dedicated to rare diseases worldwide, Dr. Joe has spent 14 years as a paediatric/neonatal doctor in the NHS. His specialist interests include neurology, rare paediatric diseases, asthma, paediatric development, and acute care, including intensive care and mental health disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), approaching paediatric healthcare with a holistic perspective and focus on prevention.
Dr. Joe possesses extensive knowledge and global experience in rare diseases such as Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS), Lambert-Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome (LEMS), Paediatric Multiple Sclerosis, Castleman’s Disease, Haemophilia, Vitamin D deficiency, Sickle Cell Anaemia, X-Linked Hypophosphatemia (XLH), Achondroplasia, and Primary Immunodeficiencies (PIDs). His expertise extends to oncology, particularly in small molecule therapeutics, biologics, and gene therapy, with a focus on conditions such as Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) and Neuroblastoma. Additionally, Dr. Joe has significant experience in researching and treating respiratory conditions such as Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). He is well-versed in managing Gastro-Oesophageal Reflux Disease (GORD), and lipid disorders associated with cardiovascular and renal diseases.
Dr. Joe currently works as a Paediatrician and Neonatologist in London, UK. His practice includes both private and NHS settings, where he covers General Paediatrics Units, Paediatric Emergency Departments, Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care, Neurodevelopmental assessments, and Autism/ADHD Clinics.
His previous positions within research and development have included roles as both a pre-clinical and a phase I-III research scientist, including work on projects related to HIV/AIDS (NIH, USA) and various forms and types of cancer.
As a postgraduate tutor and board examiner with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, Dr. Joe holds the position of educational supervisor with the General Medical Council (GMC) and serves as a revalidation appraiser and board examiner on behalf of the Royal College of Physicians. He has also been recognised by his peers for his research and development and was awarded with a Fellowship in Pharmaceutical Medicine. Dr Joe is also a final medical signatory for the ABPI (Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry).
His passion for the great NHS as an NHS doctor, delivering optimum client-focused care, extends as he continues to teach junior doctors, raise awareness through medical education and research, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
After completing a degree in Biological Medicinal Chemistry with Drug Design BSc. (Hons), Joe acquired a postgraduate Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine from Oxford and graduated from Medical School (MBBS) from the University of East Anglia (UEA). He has also undertaken postgraduate certificates and diplomas in Child Health as well as conducting research in gastro-oesophageal reflux disease and leukaemia at the National Institute for Health (NIH) in Maryland, USA.
His mission is to foster a child’s path to well-being while also empowering patients and their families. His focus extends beyond physical health, recognising that mental and emotional well-being play crucial roles in overall health. By nurturing healthy habits, acknowledging feelings, and promoting resilience, he aims to create a foundation for better mental health and well-being in children.
